Rare 19th C. American Pine Hanging Drying Rack from an important Connecticut Estate. This incredible piece was used to hang things to dry. It would have been attached to the ceiling at four points, hanging down a bit so that one could tie bouquets of herbs, drape clothing or objects to dry. It is very difficult to find one intact these days especially one in this condition and this substantial in size. It would also look wonderful mounted on a wall with throws and blankets or favorite quilts hanging from it. Wall mounted as a sculptural element in a Soho Loft or a Hamptons, Vineyard or Nantucket beach house would be just perfect. Age splits but structurally sound.
